Match Day
IUSD’s annual Match Day is cause for excitement—the day when imminent DDS graduates pursuing advanced education learn where the next stage of their training will take them. This year saw 18 students and graduates matched, half of whom were matched with an IU program. Other students were matched to post-graduate residencies at the universities of Louisville, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Harvard, along with placements at Detroit Mercy Hospital and programs with the Department of Veteran Affairs.
Give Kids A Smile
IUSD Kid’s Club and the IUSD Pediatric Dentistry Department made the visit to the dentist a lot more enjoyable for local children at the annual Give Kids A Smile event on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025. “We reached 81 patients and delivered free dental services valued at approximately $18,711,” said Dr. Angela Yepes, IUSD Kid’s Club faculty advisor. This year, the number of faculty, staff, and student volunteers skyrocketed to 170. Volunteers from the IU Fort Wayne Dental Assisting Program also traveled to Indianapolis to help provide children with oral healthcare and education.
Molar Madness
Molar Madness: Hoops for Hope is a student-led 3v3 fundraiser basketball tournament put on by the IUSD Kid’s Club. All proceeds collected from the event go directly towards the IUSD Pediatric Dental Care grant. This year, the tournament raised over $8,000! This is the third annual tournament, and this year’s tournament included 76 players across 19 teams!
Research Day
The fourth floor of the IU Indianapolis Campus Center transformed into an abundant display of dental knowledge and achievements for IUSD's 33rd annual Research Day on April 10, 2025. Following a year with record-high initiatives and accomplishments, there’s no shortage of impactful research conducted within the halls of the School of Dentistry.
Graduation
IUSD staged its 147th Graduate Recognition Ceremony on May 17, 2025, in Indianapolis, honoring 180 graduates.
White Coat(s)
The Indiana University School of Dentistry (IUSD) community converged on the Madam Walker Legacy Center on September 6, 2025, to celebrate three classes of dental students: the International Dentist Program (IDP) class of 2027 and the DDS classes of 2028 and 2029. Surrounded by family, friends, and dental colleagues, students received their ceremonial white coats, marking their formal acceptance of the responsibilities and high ethical standards of the dental profession.
Regatta
2025 marked the best-ever finish for the Indiana University School of Dentistry at the IU Indianapolis Regatta. This year, the school swept all four categories, featuring the return of the 2012 champions, the Kavity Killers, who posted a new track record en route to the school's first-ever alumni team win!
Orthodontic Clinic Remodel
It’s a new era of excellence at IUSD! With the recent grand opening of the newly renovated orthodontic clinic, patients and students are loving their elevated experience—complete with advanced technology and a design that supports excellence in learning and patient care. From alumni and donors to dedicated faculty and residents, this transformation represents the power of philanthropy.
Dental Hygiene Graduation
Just before the end of the year, the Dental Hygiene program graduates the final members of the class of 2025.
