Dr. Priya Thomas is the Interim Chair and Director of Comprehensive Care and Predoctoral Clinics in the Department of Comprehensive Care and Allied Professions. She earned her DDS degree from New York University College of Dentistry, her BDS from MGR University, and completed a General Practice Residency at Indiana University. After gaining valuable experience in private practice, Dr. Thomas joined IUSD as a part-time faculty member in the General Practice Residency program. In 2010, she transitioned to a full-time role as a Clinical Assistant Professor. In her current role, Dr. Thomas oversees a dynamic team of full-time and adjunct faculty involved in the Comprehensive Care, Graduate Operative, and Allied Professions programs across Indianapolis and Fort Wayne. Her responsibilities include managing clinical operations, developing, and assessing the Comprehensive Care curriculum, recruiting, and retaining faculty, and integrating allied health team members within the clinics. Dr. Thomas is also the Comprehensive Care and Patient Management course director, actively shaping the education of third- and fourth-year dental students. Dr. Thomas has a strong commitment to service, exemplified through her involvement in key committees at IUSD, including the Curriculum Assessment Committee and the Progress Committee. She has also held leadership roles within the American Dental Education Association (ADEA). Previously, Dr. Thomas served as Clinic Director of the Comprehensive Care Clinics, where she played a pivotal role in enhancing clinical education. Before that, she was the Clinic Director at Cottage Corner Dental Clinic, a satellite clinic serving an underserved neighborhood in Indianapolis. Throughout her career, Dr. Thomas has remained steadfast in her dedication to mentoring students, guiding them toward successful graduation and future careers in dentistry. Her leadership, service, and unwavering commitment to student success continue to make a lasting impact at IUSD.
